Tracing Serial Numbers

Hello, I have a 61 caravel trailer that appears to have a serial number on the door side plate (I181D097) and pink slip that is not consistent with the age and size of the actual trailer. Is there any way to trace the correct one? Or might it be stamped somewhere else? I have a MHMA plate also (number I0003342), can that be traced somehow? Also there are the numbers on the top curve of the shell at the back, are they helpful?

I181D097 would be the VIN and it appears to match what you have.
I = International option
18 = length of the trailer
1 = 1961
D = Double Bed
097 = sequence number (unique).

Hi Richard, ok, thanks. I'd been told it was wrong. Glad to hear it's not!

OK. What's the relevance of the big number on the shell? Above the rear window?

That's a WBCCI club membership number. It is assigned to members who put them on their trailers. It's your trailer now and sounds like the former member's numbers were not removed.

There's a thread in here somewhere where you can provide those numbers and find out who had them and if they're still available, you might be able to get them assigned to you if you become a WBCCI member.
