For $3500 invested, I would think there's a profit to be had in parting it out...

I need a tongue jack.

Depends on where the fire is, good for campfires, not good for fireplaces and wood stoves.

Hi Chuck -- I kinda agree with your beginning statement.

There may be something approaching ~ $3500 of parts on this donor. Except that the person listing the ad has determined that the parts individually will take more to distribute than it is worth it to him/her -- personal attention, dickering about shipping (costs increasing with weight or distance), and almost no clear idea of breaking even untilparts finally stop moving out the door. Even the higher value items like AC, fridge, furnace, HWH are now 17 years old and therefore significantly depreciated. Buying this hulk would involve shipping out on a flatbed -- not worth it unless the buyer is equipped to do that themselves. Seems like this should be valued at pennies on the dollar. Who can tell what the insurance situation was? I sure have to look closely at the costs of continuing to insure my now 7 year old Airstream.

It would take great labor to extract the small $$ to gain from recycling the aluminum. You'd have to persuade me to expect even half the $3500 asking price before this sad situation is cleared out of their driveway.

Too bad in the end. We can sympathize with this NOLA owner.

As another owner of a '95 30' ... it's especially depressing to me!
