Thanks to all
It's funny how perceptions change. I found a 1970 Ambassador a few weeks ago while traveling. Having always wanted an Airstream, I was pretty excited. I took the wife back to see it a week later (200 miles away) and she caught the bug as well. I went back yesterday for the third time, with cash in hand, but this time I was armed with a ton of info taken from this site. I found out that what looked awesome from the outside had many problems: extreme positive angle torsion axles, rear end separation, rear end sag, bathroom floor rotted away, water heater compartment rotted away....Had I not asked alot of questions on this site, I would have found all of this the hard way. While none of these repairs are beyond me, I do not have the time (6 kids) or money (did I mention 6 kids?) right now. We will continue to camp in our SOB and continue looking for an AS. I wanted to thank everyone who answered all of my rookie questions and, if anyone in Michigan is looking for a restoration project that has a perfect shell, nice awning and cold AC, I can provide pictures. Thanks again.
