Sticky Surface

It's a great day, just purchased my first AS after 2 years of dreaming, and I have a question. It's a 89 25ft Excella, and the interior ceiling has a sticky or tacky feel to it. Is this a breakdown in the material, or was it cleaned or treated incorrectly? What will remove or clean this tacky finish?

It is the adhesive bleeding through. You can get some simple green or soap and ammonia and scrub it like crazy to get it off. After you have ALL of the sticky residue off go to a hardware store and find some Future Floorwax and wipe it on the walls and ceilings. It will seal it for a couple of years. Makes the ceilings nice and shiny for awhile. You can do a search on here for more info.

A nylon brush and hot Spic'n Span (I eventually used a homemade round scrubbing brush chucked into a power drill) brightened & lightened my '73 liners to 'like-new' and rid them of that tacky film, just providing elbow-grease and plenty of terry cloth rags to burnish it dry always using a fresh pick-up rag was required.

Once you see the results of scrubbing it clean the effort and mess is justified, but alas, then the thought of all the hidden spots missing needing the same rehabilitation becomes almost unmanageable!

The sticky stuff is the secondary plasticizer from the PVC laminate on the aluminum. It degrades with time and spews from the vinyl. You need to disolve it and prevent it from reoccurring. There are a lot of cleaners that will work. Ones that contain pine oil, work the easiest. You need to then seal the vinyl with Future or another acrylic floor wax
