Stainless Steel upgrades..Airstream.com or Silver Trailer Supply?

Hello all, the vent for the range hood in our AS is in need of replacing.

Are all the stainless products offered by these two sites made the same manufacturer?

I don't see any tabs to hold the door shut on it.

One is in stock, the other isn't.

Also the AS store suggests Sikaflex, Acryl-R or Ad-Seal, which one is the sealant that the factory uses?

I have the one from airstream supply on top, very nice quality but the hole pattern did not line up with what I had and the inner cutout of the trailer was a challenge being smaller than needed and not merely snipping the skin opening larger. With some modification it went in without any trace of the difficulty.

What does AS use on the original outlet for sealant? Nothing in my case and discovered a sizable water entry point. Don't remember if I used Parbond or Sikaflex but it should not leak anymore.

Installing all the stainless upgrades, and they all come with a foam gasket with one side adhesive, that looks like it should seal very well.

The tabs that hold the vent closed on the stainless version are not very easy to use and even freeing them up a bit they are still difficult (sharp edges and too short). Prior to installation of the stainless vent I drilled out the rivets, and installed 2 electrical connectors as shown backed up by flat washers and nylock nuts. Works much nicer and easier on the fingers and they don't scratch the flap. Someone mentioned their vent pass thru area was wide open to the inner wall, but mine seems to be sealed up pretty well although there are some areas that can use some seam sealing.

I changed ours 12yrs ago.👍

I use a custom clip to hold the door "open".
A clip is needed because of the door weight, the motor labors, flow is effected and the fan quite noisy.
If forgotten it is slipstream removable and easily replaced.😂
Never have had a problem with them staying closed.

My 'special' gasket is 1/8"ID plastic tubing, split and attached to the vent edge with 3M weatherstrip cement.

Interesting history on when they first came out. I was wondering about the door weight and that is useful info....guess I will have to look for a SS clothespin. We were inspired by the brand new Classic that parked next to us in storage and has all the stainless steel doors and polished marine type outlet covers.

Right you are, on low the SS flap opens about half way and if you hold it wide open the flow is noticeably increased although motor sounds about the same.

Got the new SS outdoor shower installed, the valves, shower nozzle, and hose are nicer too. That pretty much completes the final cosmetic exterior upgrade. Next task is "soft start" for the A/C Heat Pump and a new Honda 2200w gen with propane conversion so not quite out of fun stuff to do yet.
