We are rebuilding our 68 Sovereign from the frame up, beginning steel repairs on the frame later this week. I am interested in adding some stabilizers. Does anyone have any experience with this, or suggestions? Our camper will sit 3in higher after the new axes are in, not sure if this is a consideration.

Go to any Airstream dealer and they can order the BAL stabilizers for it. I did just that for my 77 Argosy as the 74 and 78 AS that I had came with them. They look much better then the scissor jack looking ones, and give you more ground clearance when up then the scissor ones.

Ventport - are the ones you mentioned the ones similar to the manual ones installed on later year Airstreams? We had a 1981 with the four manual crank stabilizers and they were terrific. We now have a 1966 with four of the portable stabilizer jacks and they drive me crazy. Are these something you can install yourself or are they welded to the belly/frame? I was considering the scissor type as they bolt on, but I prefer the look of the Airstream type.
Thanks!
