Space behind sofa?

When the gaucho sofa is pulled out into a bed like in the photo, there is a gap. I read on a thread somewhere on here where someone made a custom foam of sorts to put there. I can't remember what it was made of or how they made it. Any help or ideas?

Upholstery foam can be found at most fabric stores in a variety of sizes and densities. Discount fabric outlets/warehouse style have the cheapest in my experience. Making a cover is not difficult if you have a sewing machine handy. The foam can be shaped easily with an electric knife and steady hands.

My 1968 24' Tradewind had an insert like you described. It was call a "bolster" by the previous owner and it was covered on the same fabric as the gaucho. I stored the bolster in the space behind the gaucho when it was upright.

This was true for my '72 Trade Wind as well.
