Soft spot on floor

Just at the edge of the dinette on the floor I've noticed a soft spot under the laminate flooring . It's about the size of a salad plate.

We don't see any evidence of leaks in or on the exterior of the coach.

Is our only solution to peel back the linoleum?

I don't have a sense of where your spot is, but that series of trailers had a problem with leaks originating on the top of the bumper. The water goes down between the bumper and the skin and wicks horizontally between the flooring and the subfloor. If left unchecked, the subfloor eventually rots.

To answer your question, it probably will require pulling up the flooring somewhere to see how significant the damage is. With the front bedroom, you probably have a dinette across the back. You could pull up the flooring under the seats at the back wall, or get a moisture meter with pins and press them through the vinyl to check for water intrusion.

My husband said owning the Airstream is like when he owned his Harley. Fun to ride but ongoing maintenance. I see a real project in our future.

Thanks Al.

This will be my winter project. Remove the closets and queen bed, and tear out/replace the spongy flooring. I already did the bumper seal in accordance with the service bulletin from Airstream. Do that first to stop future water intrusion.

Where do we find the service bulletins?

I contacted Airstream through the web site and asked for information about correcting the leak. PM me with your email and I will forward to you.

Sorry for the delay, but we have been dry camping without cell or internet for two weeks. I will get the bulletins out to you shortly.

I cannot locate the bulletins. Email service@airstream.com and they will send them to you.

I have a large soft spot under the dinette. Sounds like similar issue. I just purchased it used (2010) from Airstream dealership and added the extra warranty. Anyone know if this issue is considered covered? Any suggestions on how to address issue if you are not qualified to rip up floor?

Sorry to hear about your soft spot. Had the issue with my 2008 25 FB which is in the range where Airstream did not properly seal the flooring with the shell/bumper. It started as you said a plate size soft spot and in a few months extends to about a 3’ x 3’ square. Water gets in and has no place to go. We replaced a large section of the front plywood and unfortunately the vinyl flooring had to replaced all the way back to the bedroom. We were lucky because a great Houston RV repair house Bob Jones RV had dealt with this many times on other Airstreams (thread is on the forums) so after fixing the flooring ourselves we let Bob Jones deal with the original leak from the factory defect. We also had some holes drilled in the under skin so should a leak return then the water can find a way to exit the bottom.

So, when DID Airstream start "properly" sealing the flooring with the shell/bumper?

Suggest you look into Liquid Wood. See Amazon sells it https://www.amazon.com/Abatron-Liqui...ding=UTF8&s=hi but I found some at a paint store in Phoenix.
