Skylight became sky hole

The front skylight on my 95 34' Classic blew off. Discovered it missing after towing thru a rain storm.
Opening is 22 1/2" sq. Would like an "smoke" tinted replacement, My AS dealer says the only come in clear.
anyone have a source for "smoke" tinted dome skylights???

Maxim out of Texas. Pricey, but the last one you'll ever get. Aluminum framed Polycarbonite. Comes in several tints.

Hey Dave. We had the same thing happen this summer while traveling out west. Opened the shade to see sky. I guess that's why it's called a SKY light. I covered it with a piece of plywood to continue our travels and just got home 2 wks ago. I ordered 2 new Maxim's and am waiting for them to arrive. I will bring them with us when we head south in January and it will be my project while enjoying the sun in Key West. Go Maxim and never have to deal with it again.

I've installled Maxim skylights on three of the Airstreams we've owned. They're easy to install, they insulate a LOT better, and they come in many different color combinations...

For whatever it's worth

Vent or skylight?

Do the Maxim domes replace just your skylight, or do they also open like the vent / skylights do? I can't tell from the website.

Last year the hail put some holes in the outside layer of the Airstream skylight. I also replaced this one with a Maxim skylight. It is fixed and I went with clear/white with a white frame.

I just had Airstream Service Center install Maxim Skylights that I ordered from Maxim and are they great. Not fear of leaks as they meet Dade County, FL, hurricane, wind, and hail code requirements. If you contact Maxim Industries give them the measurements from the parts list on the Airstream website under service, manuals, for your year and model. Mine fit perfectly. They run about $220 a piece including shipping, but in 10 years I was about ready for my 4th pair. I was getting about 3+years out of the factory skylight here in Texas. If I had done that in the beginning I would have saved bucks.

One thing that bugs me about Airstream skylights is the crud that collects in the grove between the roof and the skylight. I can't tell from pics but is the Maxim dome type groove less /flat around the opening where my 'problem area' would be resolved?
