I was waxing our relatively new to us 2009 27FB and noticed two cracks radiating outward from both lower corners of the forward storage compartment door. Has anyone run into cracks like these?

At least until I do a final fix I’m thinking I need to drill a small hole at the end of each crack to arrest further crack growth and then cover with a sealant. What else should I do? Thanks.

I have the exact cracks that you have, just noticed today. How did you resolve? Did you have an idea about what caused them? I read that it can happen from adjusting load distribution hitch too much. Thanks in advance?

We are just getting ready to leave for a trip so I looked for a short term and long term solution. Long term is to replace the skin and evaluate if there is any floor damage or separation from the C channel. We will take it to the dealer for that.

Short term is to stop drill the ends of the crack - I went with a 1/8th” drill to arrest crack growth and then cover and seal with Sikaflex. As we get into our trip we will discover if the short term fix works for now.

The dealer service department asked about how much weight I have stored in the compartment so I have chosen to move my tool bag from storage to the truck bed.

I have similar crack. What is sikaflex?
