ID:	209915Why not use silicone caulking ,it last longer ,doesn't crack ,great for extreme expansion (up to 1400%of joints ,comes in many different colours grey, aluminum ,cement grey ,white ,clear etc... It adheres very good to aluminum glass etc, is it bad for bare aluminum or the clear coat on airstreams? It's used on painted house aluminum windows , I was thinking of using mulco flex ultra thermoplastic(silicone ?)caulking , it's the best caulking for houses ! If it can be used it would fix so many water leaks on airstreams and would seal them for at least 10 years or more .

Silicone sealers were used by Airstream many years ago on the exterior.

It FAILED horribly.

You can use it on the inside ot the trailer, but NEVER EVER on the exterior.

For the exterior use Vulkem, Sikoflex and/or Par Bond.

The Vulkem sealer that Airstream used on trailers almost 50 years old (young) is still in great shape.

Vulkem will out last silicone everyday of the week, month, year, decades.

Some p/o went dogstuff crazy with silicone on my trailer, it sucked bad getting it off, I hate the stuff beyond words.

I don't think it seals that great, and I think applying the stuff is unpleasant.

Don.

I have tried to help Airstream owners for almost 50 years. Even on holidays, and also when I am also in Aloha land, like right now for another week.

Vacation no. Rest and recuperation, yes, and then...............back to the real business.

Andy
