Sharp Convection Microwave

2008 25' Flying Cloud. 3rd owner. I assume the microwave is OEM. It would not come on during a recent outing. Checked all fuses and breakers. All are operational.

Anyone have issues with theirs and if so is there something else I should check before removing it to check plug in to power source?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thank you,

Andyman

Sharp Convection Microwave

If you have verified that the outlet it is plugged into has power, but the microwave won’t come on, main board in the microwave is probably dead. Time for a new one....

In the 2008 25’ that microwave outlet should be on the same 20A circuit as the overhead AC unit. Does your AC work? Microwave should be labeled on your panel...

Our 1999 Airstream had a Sharp convection microwave. It died during this year's Thanksgiving holiday.

I removed it and did some limited checking inside with the volt-ohm meter. There is a major fuse along with some other switches. All checked ok as far as I could tell. Time to declare it dead.

Sharp doesn't make a convection microwave any more. And other units, besides being very pricy, would require quite a lot of modification to fit them into the cabinetry.
So, given that we'd not really used the convection part of the machine, we went with the Sharp non-convection microwave.

The new microwave is close to the original in size, so I was able to modify the original mounting kit and reuse it. Now we have a microwave, but no convection.

If you have 50-amp service: I have been in two campgrounds that had one dead leg at the 50-amp side. In each case the microwave did not receive power.

I switched to a 30-amp plug, using a dog bone adapter, and all was well. Of course, the second ac would not work, but that was ok
