Service in NW CT
Can anyone recommend a reputable and dependable place to service our 20' Flying Cloud's brakes, electric and ventilator fans in NW Connecticut?

I can't help with a recommendation but all of those components are standard on a lot of RVs. So you really don't need an Airstream specific shop unless these are warranty issues.

We live outside of Hartford; our service and repair work is done by Classic RV in Holmes New York. Been using him for years. George is very good at fixing these trailers; indeed, ours needs to go to him for some Fantastic vent repairs and a plumbing leak.

Thanks for this reference.

What kind of work have they done for you, and do you know anything about their capabilities with adding solar panels etc.?
Also, do you know if Airstream has authorized them to do warranty work? [Not sure if any private shops are?]
Thanks,
Peter

Welcome to the forum Peter!
I am wondering if you have received any further information on this, perhaps by a private message or other sources?
Thanks,
Peter

You could see if Colin Hyde could do it. He's in upstate NY, Plattsburgh.
I think the only AS only authorizes dealers for their warranty work.

Is this the same person oft-mentioned regarding the timing of axle orders?

He installed my solar, replaced a cracked water tank, installed my Fantastic vents, replaced black tank valves, as well as annual brake/bearing service. I've seen him do big time body repairs, but not on my trailer (luckily.) AS has authorized him for some warranty work but it is case by case basis.

Thanks Tom, your reply is very helpful. The location a little north of Brewster is easy for us, via either the Throggs Neck Bridge or the Port Jeff ferry. Is George pretty good at turning things around in a reasonable time? I guess you probably leave the AS there and go back home, or are there any motels in the area you have used if it is a quick repair?
Thanks again,
Peter

Thanks again, Tom. I have emailed them to set something up.

I also have George ( Classic RV ) do all of my work on our Safari 28SO. And our trailer is a 2003. He has been working on Airstreams for years. His work is and turn around time are Very good.

Classic RV
George at Classic RV just did a beautiful job on a partial subfloor replacement on my 22 ft. CCD. Very professional and he does warranty work. Finished this very complex job in the time he said (even earlier) Sure beats driving to Ohio!

George was head man when CT had an AS dealership. i have used him and plan to in the fall. Although he has not done solar work for me ( I use portable), I am sure he does it) i have seen him do fram work, a rock guards and sun glaaes to front and back of a 15' dent repairs and mire. I have a mystery whiff thing going on, I know he will figure it out.

He's typically pretty busy, and only has so much parking, so he does try to get trailers in and out. I leave mine there; I live only about 75 minutes away.

Thanks Tom, I will call him next week if I don't get a reply to my email. He is probably swamped right now.
Have a good Labor Day weekend!
Happy Trails,

FYI George did call me yesterday and we set up an appt. for October (which was our personal preferred timing). Thanks again Tom for this valuable contact.
Happy Trails!

FYI Tom, our appt. with George worked out great. Repacked the bearings with new seals, and adjusted the brakes. The auto detailer next door washed and waxed the trailer at the same time. I recommend Classic RV entirely, as his experience at the former CT AS dealer was extensive and it shows in his knowledge and careful work.
Thanks again for everyone's recommendations.
