Service in Hudson Valley New York

I am new to the Forum and Airstreams. Does anyone have any recommendation for service and inspection for the Kingston, New York area. I have recently purchased 1975 Airstream 31 that i am thinking about renovating. Exterior is in great condition. Interior needs updating.

Just an hour south in Holmes, NY. George Hernandez at Classic RV Repair. Google him for specifics. Great AS technician and in your neighborhood too.

I second that recommendation, and welcome to the forum! George just did some basic servicing on our trailer. Further information, references, and links are in this thread:

About 1 1/2 hours SE of you, via I-84. He has a couple of older AS there for restoration work.

Good luck!

Lsuda.............I agree with all of the folks recommending George Hernandez at Classic RV Repair & Restorations. He worked on my 2007 25' Safari when he worked at the Ct Airstream dealer and continues to perform the maintenance on it since the Airstream dealer closed down and George opened his own business. You will be very happy with his work.

Check out Nomad Airstream in Plattsburgh NY. They specialize in rebuilding and modifying AS - from making offices, restaurants, bars, etc., in addition to "normal" restorations. I just had awnings put on the left and back of my 2014 27ft. Flying Cloud.

Is the following thread about Nomad AS, or do I have things mixed up, and Colin Hyde's axle business is separate from Nomad?

Thanks for any clarifications you may offer.

Since this old thread just got bumped up by the last post, FYI I believe that Classic RV has moved to a new location, off Route 9 south of I-84 on the east side of the Hudson. [See Posts #2 and #4]

Plattsburgh repairs

By way of a belated update, as I iust came across your post while doing a separate search here on "Airstream University", Nomad was shut down by the bank last spring (2017). The owners, Steven Clement and Guillaume Langevin fled back to Montreal just ahead of a slew of angry creditors, including the State of New York (back taxes) and me ($10,000; $5000 was on a credit card and written off by the credit card company). They were actively trolling for funds right up until the last minute. Last I heard, they were trying to set up a similar scam in the Montreal area, so caveat emptor.

And again filed under "buyer beware", my repairs were eventually done by another outfit in Plattsburgh, NOT Colin Hyde. Those repairs cost more than 50% over estimate, due to labor for "unforeseen difficulties" (3 previous labor estimates by the same "experienced" crew were remarkably consistent at 2/3 the final cost). When all was done and paid for, the seams above the replaced roadside window leaked like a sieve to boot
