Sealants

Are people still using Volkem or is there a better product that will stay elastic?

I use the Vulkem. They call it TemPro 636 now. Works very well.

THanks so much. Another friend of mine suggested Sikaflex, and I was just concerned as to the adhesive qualities possibly compromising the continued flexability. sounds like that is not an issue.

I use sikaflex and have had good results.

Silver Parrbond for small joints as well.

Hi "Della"

My vote goes for Sikaflex as a sealant and adhesive. My reason for that preference is 25 years experience at sea on a variety of small sailboats where Sikaflax was used extensively on deck, below the waterline and inside. The sun, salt and abuse that everything is subjected to onboard a boat at sea or not, has never in my experience defeated Sikaflax.

Cheers,

Used sika on the skylight.

Loctite PL on the black tank vent.

Parbond on the antenna, Fantastic Vent fans, awning mount, window and door rain gutters.

Acryl-r on the narrow gap panel seams, rivets and windows.
