I would not know, but I wonder why there are not more around. I have not been able to find any in Georgia. I know that I have used salvage yards to fix many of my past vehicles. I would love to find used equipment. I have bought a couple things over the internet but you have to pay for shipping. Nothing like just showing up and finding what you need.

Land in CA is too expensive for salvage yards. Try Arizona R.V. Salvage Inc - Used RV Parts, Refurbished RV Appliances, Generators and Motorhome, Travel Trailer, and 5th Wheel Lot in Arizona (cheap land).

Thanks for all the replys. I did managed to find Walt's RV Surplus in Fontana CA. Stopped by there today to see what they had. Typical surplus outfit, hard to find anything specific because of how they pile things up!

Here are some pictures I took while browsing.

I'll have to contact them however to see if they might have a few of the parts I'm looking for.

Wow Brad, you found RV nirvana.

I love going through places like that. The neat stuff you can find, the anticipation, the fun wondering what the heck this or that was used for, it's so exciting. Then, of course, reality hits when you ask how much and they want more than you would pay for a brand new one..........

Are you in CA on a holiday or just to pick up parts for your Airstream?

The sad thing is, Walt's didn't seem to have anything specific for AS. Brad said it looks like they are not a junkyard, but rather a salvage dealer who gets end-run lots and other stuff that didn't sell or was overstocked from the RV places. He said there were lots of stoves, water heaters, vent covers, ladders, etc. out there. They actually had some very good prices on mirrors (half of what we have seen at other salvage places--maybe because they don't have to pay anyone to pull them), but unfortunately nothing to fit or be easily adapted to our moho.

Barry,

It would have been more fun if it had more airstream specific parts, but its still neat to see all those parts. I kept walking around thinking "now what can I build with that?"

I'm working here in Pasadena for the next 6 to 10 months or so. After that we will be moving to Richmond KY. Needless to say I've been trying to find ways to occupy my time, one of which is searching out places to find parts four our two motorhomes and our excella 500 trailer.
