Rough ride in CA

Last year while touring in our 23d International Signature we happened over some mighty rough road in California. By the time we arrived in Nappa the redistribution of contents within the Airstream included our microwave glass tray(turntable). Totally distorted. The microwave is an ASA Advent model MW912B. After checking the manual that came with the airstream I cannot find any info on ordering a new turntable. I'm not even sure of the size because it is only listed as glass tray. After measuring I believe it is a ten inch. Doesn't seem to be any info on the internet either. Has anyone else had to replace their microwave tray and may I ask where you ordered it from. Thank you in advance.

You may have traveled in the right two lanes of the 680 and 580 east of SF bay. I popped 7 rivets on my 23D on sections of those two very heavily traveled big rig freeways.

Best of luck finding the glass tray. You might walk into Sears or other store that sell microwaves and compare. I'll bet that many manufacturers use the same tray.

My apology for this information not being of much help to you in your search for microwave parts. The microwave solution is to remove the glass tray and store it in a padded location. This was one of the initial walk through instructions we got from our dealer. Initially we stuffed pillows in the microwave. That worked, but our final solution is a padded sock for the tray and we store the package in the closet when traveling.

My sympathy for your problem. Hope you find a solution. Travel safe - Pat

PS - we have tried to only travel on good roads. It does not work. Takes forever to get anywhere and coming back is impossible.

Google search of your model info, plus the word turntable.

That is correct interstateflyer. As far as I know I did not pop any rivets so am thankful for that. Over all we did enjoy everything else of California from Yosemite to the Redwoods.

California has long had the worst roads in the nation. Very heavily traveled and of course the politicians continue to steal the gas tax for their own purposes.

This should work for your "lost" plate.

I have to agree. I shredded a rear tire on a Class B sob there on an incredibly rough I-40 near OK City on a very hot day a few years back. That road punished tires.

Hi, can't help with the roads in California; Some of them are pretty bad/rough. We were very fortunate that our Airstream came with the original micro-wave packing. I have the two pieces of Styrofoam in which my glass plate and roller fits into. This, when put together, fits diagonally inside of the micro-wave and is great for traveling. I think the dealers should leave these in the trailer and let the customers know that these are good for securing the plate and roller while traveling. I'm sure that a lot of people probably tossed these Styrofoam packing pieces in the trash, not knowing that these are very useful. I know that I would never save these pieces for my home micro-wave.

Thank you Randy and Paiceman. With your help I believe I have an actual part number. Looks as though the oster will fit it also. Thanks again.
