Another good source for microwave turntables if you are "guessing" what to get are thrift stores. They usually have quite a few of them in the houseware section. Good Luck if you can't find the right one online.

(My guess is that they are fairly generic and as long as the "cogs" fit the part that turns the tray and it fits in the indentation on the floor of the microwave, it will work.)

Welcome to California, Inventor of the Freeway System. Once our roads were the envy of the rest of the nation. Now sadly they are some of worst roads in the nation. Even our newer interstate 5 is worn out. We just keep paying high gas taxes and get nothing in return. Can't imagine what this is costing the trucking industry in repairs.

Went through there last June on the way to Utah. The road system is mostly elevated, concrete slabs and joints. It was the worse road on the trip but made it through with no damage.

Concerning bad highways: I-10 east out of El Paso, TX. The worst.

Just finished coming down from WA into CA and now out to the east. My rating of CA roads, including Interstates, US and CA highways is: 10% good or at least OK, 10% only fair, 80% just plain ugly. Locals seem to agree, and then there's the outrageous CA gas tax. Now still heading east we will be going through OK (thanks RamblinManGA!).

Of course this doesn't help your microwave issue, but it is cathardic to rant.

PS WA is no smooth travel, either. Is the whole country's intrastructure g/oing to pot(holes)?

A lot of States have let their roads deteriorate over the last 10 to 20 years. We keep electing people who promise to lower our taxes and generally they do just that, usually promising that it can be done by simply reducing "bloated" government programs. Unfortunately, some of those programs weren't all that bloated and get slashed in the inevitable general budget shortfalls.

Highways are especially problematic as the Federal Government will pay most of the freight but does require the States to pony up some portion of a given projects budget.

Basically, we get what we pay for, especially in terms of infrastructure.

Thank goodness for torsion axles!
