I changed out mine to this, https://www.westmarine.com/buy/marin...-cover--356436, turned side-wise of course, Looks Great!! but leaked h20 inside the plug and continuously tripped the GFI for the entire kitchen and living area. Easy fix was to install these, https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Quali...electric+plugs. Now my exterior plug is useless, can't plug anything in to it because of the baby plugs and if I remove the baby things the whole interior kitchen and bathroom goes down every time it rains, or if it's humid, or if you wash the airstream.

It takes a little work, but

How about something like this? Here's the thread that shows how it's done.
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f44/...ect-60878.html
I went to HomerDepo yesterday and bought a cover for $3.50, but it had BELL written across it. I dremeled the letters off, but a went a little too deep and have one or two small defects - so I ordered an old stock cover off of Ebay that doesn't have the lettering, should get it by Monday. If you get one off eBay, check for actual pictures of the front to verify no letters. I'll be in it for a total of $10 for 2.

Here's my first attempt yesterday, I could have kept working it, but I decided to start over.

I got the same stainless cover that you did and I don't know what to do with it. I thought to mount it in a horizontal attitude, but as you discovered, I decided it would leak. It also seemed to fit the conventional receptacles, as opposed to the rectangular outlets. I initially thought to trim it to fit the rectangular outlet, but decided it would still leak, so now I have the stainless steel cover going unused. I will probably buy the over-priced cover from AS, since every other cover on my rig is stainless or chrome. I could make someone a good deal on this one.....

The factory stainless steel cover may be the better way to go on newer trailers because of the outlet that they use. It looks like their cover will fit the shape of the outlet, where an off the shelf cover has to be highly modified and still may not sit flush because the outlet isn't flush. I guess that I could look into changing the outlet, but then it's getting to be more work just to save a few bucks. Here's what my outlet looks like:
