replacing Dometic m/w with some other brand??

I need to replace my Dometic M/W in my 2006 Classic trailer. Can I use some other brand such as Samsung, Whirlpool, Kenwood, etc??? Anyone done this?? The current Dometic M/W is somewhat built in with these wire grill retainers.

I thought that others would have replaced their Dometic microwave with some other brand. But response to date has been nil. I'm on my second Dometic. last one lasted less than 3 yrs. Dometic exits hot air from the top out thru the front grill. Others seem to have side venting. Anyone have any experience here????

According to my parts book you should have a selection of microwaves to choose from. Mine is the Sharp MW. But as you can see a grill is required for these units. I think the issue that you are going to have is finding a current trim ring for the MW of your choice that fits the cabinet. I would start by visiting an appliance center like Goemans and see what they can offer you.

My trailer came with a factory installed Magic Chef. It died earlier this year. I went to every store in town armed with a tape measure. By chance, a Magic Chef at Home Depot had the closest dimensions to the original. A few minor mods made it fit.
