Replacing Bathroom End Cap with Aluminum?

Hi Everyone!
We're in the middle of renovating our 1965 Airstream. Unfortunately the interior end cap to the back bathroom area is missing (another story entirely). Anyway, we're wondering if anyone out there has replaced the plastic/fiberglass endcaps with aluminum and if so, how do you do it? There is no ribbing under there to attach to...looking for a solution.
Thanks!

You can read Zepp's thread for some ideas about using aluminum for this purpose. I believe it starts at post #6.
