Hi Tom,

I was just looking this up for your post on the 1983 Excella Questions thread (http://www.airforums.com/forums/f177...tml#post785438) when I saw this one. Better to answer here, it is perfectly on topic.

Airstream sells reproduction service manuals on their website https://store.airstream.com/product_...products_id=96. They don't have one for 1983, but they have them for 1982 & 1984. I got a 1984. It does say:

1984
Airstream Trailer
Service Manual

on the cover. It is a ring=bound black & white copy and it is about an inch thick. I picked the 1 year newer manual because I would err on the side of newness (Ok, my brother owns a 1984 31' Excella, too). I got a 1983 owner's manual at the same time, also ring-bound B&W, but I find that I rarely look at it. The service manual is great. It covers just about everything.

I am glad that Airstream has made them available. Sometimes I wish that they were in color, though. I feel that I am missing the total effect of the plaid pants in the Tire Changing photo on page H-1 of the Owner's Manual.

Next time you're in Little Rock, be sure to let me know. You are welcome to visit or meet for lunch or something.

Merry Christmas to you and your family. My regards to your mother here in LR.

Hi out there!! from land of the frozen North!! Is there also Service manuals for 1988 Moho? I have the manual that it comes with, but can not seem to locate a service one for 1988 year and was wondering if the 1987 or 1989 would work?

The only "service manuals" for Airstream motor homes is for 1982, 1984 and 1987.

The 1987 manual is close enough for your 1988 coach.

We would have to order the manual for you.

Airstream does list that manual, but that list can only be seen by a dealer.

Well I am blushing right now. You see I do make a diligent effort to browse almost all the post, or all I can. Before I ask a question as well as look under the bed for my socks before I scream at the dog. So you might of guessed. I found the 82 service manual marked service manual. Right in front of my eyes. To bad you don't do windows Andy. I would have you over. But hey you live to far. I will look closer the next time I take your time. Many thanks for your kindness. Have a great day Andy. By the way 3'/4' of snow and still coming here. Canceled all family activities. Just me and the wife mmmmmmmmmm! Got to go.

I remember the high plains snowstorms. I lived a while in the OK panhandle and several years in the TX panhandle.

It's supposed to avoid us, at least so far. Maybe snow in northwestern and western AR, but every time I look at the weather more counties are being included in the forecast.

Here it is rain and flooding! I just checked and we are now at 80.5 inches of rain so far, the old record was 75.5" in 1888. Channel 11 weather just interviewed a woman trying to get out of LR. It took her over 3 hours to get to LR from Bryant! For anyone unfamiliar with the area, see this Yahoo! Maps, Driving Directions, and Traffic online map. It looks like the problem is with the northeast bound lane of I30 so far.

Staying home with your wife tonight sounds like a great plan. Enjoy.

Service manuel

Hello all. Im a new owner of a 31' soverign international and the year thing is confusing me. The trailer came with a 1974 owners manuel but the registration says 1971. I looked at the code on the plate and it says;
I31a4j2121 Which when I looked it up said it was= International 31' cntr bath, twin bed rear, Jackson Cntr OH, 1970s.
On the sticker near the door it says 73 oct. SO what service manuel do I get>>>???
How can I tell what year it really is? Where is the VIN on these trailers.LOLOL
What service manuel am I looking for? 71 or 73 or 74?
Thank for any help you can give

The serial number says you have a 1974 31 foot Airstream.

It's also the first year that gray tanks were installed.

Does your Airstream have a gray water tank?

Andy

Andy thanks for the info. As to the grey tank I am unsure. the trailer is in NH and I am in Maine. Im getting ready to haul it back this week end to really get a look at things and find out more about it. I will let you know and I will have photos. I have to research what to look at to haul it for 3.5 hours back. Such as brakes, greasing bearings, tires all that first.
Thanks again one and all

manuals

I have the orignal 1973 sales brochure, 1973 airstream owners manual and 1973 airstream service manual. My trailer is a 23' 1973 Safari Land Yacht. The manual includes parts list, procedures for maintence and adjustments, service operations, removal and installation for components, including option for airstream 21,23 T&D, 25 T&D Land Yacht and 27 T&D, 29 T&D, 31 T&D International rear bath and center bath models.

I can have them scanned or copied if your interested

Viper2,
Welcome to airforums.com. I like your choice of trailer.

Congratulations on getting a '74. I am sure yours has a gray tank, but so that you are too, next time you see your trailer, open the large hatch on the rear vertical surface (the "trunk") and look in.

At the back, you will see either one or two "guillotine" style valves. The one on the right is your grey tank's open/close valve. Pulled up it's closed, and pushed down, it's open. Same for the black tank one on the left side.

Read up in your book to understand how and when to use them, BEFORE messing with them.

Good luck, and I can't wait to see lots of photos of the exterior and interior! Is it a mid-bath, or mid bed model?

Aage
