Repair avoidance

We've figured out that we never received the operating manual for the Penguin heat pump on our 2002 Safari and can't find it online. We've rarely used the A/C (maybe twice!) What should we be doing in terms of maintenance to avoid problems?

Use it regularly. Clean it once a year and clean the filters regularly....even if you don't use it.

I agree! Turn it on once a month and let it run for 20 minutes or so.
The auto industry has tied the air conditioning into the defrost mode in order that the AC gets operated even in the winter months. AC failures have been reduced significantly with this method.
