Refrigerator question

When in transit and on LP my refrigerator would not stay cold. Repairman helped little. I assumed possible interference with ignition due to air gusts and made a modest baffle outside which helped some but was not a solution. This seems to be a common issue. Suggestions or remedies?

RV fridges are powered by heat.

The heat has to be able to rise to the coil. When you are traveling, air flow gets disrupted. It's the nature of the beast.

Besides starting with a cold fridge, you could put frozen plastic bottles of water, and frozen food in the fridge.

I travel with the refridgerator on LP all the time and have not experieced that problem. Like MandolineDave I also start with a cold fridge. I usually begin cooling it down two or three days prior to travel and wait for it to reach 40 or less then stock with drinks and food. Sometimes it will go up in temp but drops back down by the next morning. Also you do not mention the freezer. Is it staying cold because I believe they operate independent of each other. My point is if the freezer stays cold then the LP is working.

I also believe the outside temp plays a major role. this week we ere camping and because it was so hot outside the fridge temp went as high as 42 or 44. It went back down later in the day when the shade covered the AS.
