Refrigerator issue.. won't run when switched to LP ?

We have a 2007 classic ltd. We turned the frig on auto and it ran on electricity for few days when taken out of storage. No problem. I bled the gas lines to the stove and water heater to get things going. When I switch to LP there is a faint click and then nothing. I went outside and did have a faint smell of gas. It seems as if the ignight sequence is not even starting. Thank you for any input or ideas out there. If it needs professional repair we have no dealers anywhere close. Would a good appliance dealer be able to work on it?

What is the refrigerator model number? This may help to pin point the source of the problem.

It is probably a Dometic refrigerator which are fairly universal among RV's so you don't need an Airstream dealer to work on it. Do you have other RV dealer/repair centers in the area you can work with? You may want to contact Dometic and see what they can do.

Also, Dometic recommends you try turning the fridge on and off several times, while in gas mode, to clear any air that may be in the gas line to the frig.

Good Luck!

Before you go to a Stealer check a few things.

Brake the gas connection at the frig just enough that you can detect gas when it is at that connection. Don't remove the connection just crack it. Once you have proof of gas tighten connection and try again to light on gas.

If still a problem

Remove the shield around the burner, small sheet metal cover with a few screws. If there is a pilot light see if that will light.

If the pilot lights but flame will not come on after a few seconds remove the burner tube and check for a spider nest or stink bugs. Remove nest or bugs and reassemble.

If it is electronic ignition remove burner tube and check as above.

Bugs and spiders are a common problem.

To stop the spiders place a half dozen moth balls in a seal able plastic bag. Punch 15 or 29 holes in the bag with a pin and place in behind the frig. This will keep spiders away and last a year or more. Do not just put moth balls back there as they will melt in a week or 2.

Are you sure it is not working?

Did the refer quit cooling?

The flame is completely contained in the round vertical tubing, so it is not visible at all.

If all is working correctly, the one click is about all that happens.

Regards,

JD

Once you purge the gas line for storage it may take 10 or 20 times to get it to light unless you open the gas line enough to get gas to the frig like Howe said above.

It might also help if you have one of the range burners lit when trying the frig.

Good news it is running ! I used several of your ideas including running the gas to the stove a while be clicking to LP. Also I opened the galvanized sheath and cleaned everything up with q-tips. Nice I didn't need to take it to a stealer dealer either..thank you all !
