I'm replacing / re routing my drain Lines- the current ones are PVC- I'm wondering if I should replace the new segment with pex ( do drain lines ever use PEX??)? It will tie into the other drain lines for the shower going to the holding tank which will remain as PVC.
Unless someone has replumbed your trailer you should have the black ABS. I would go back with the same, make sure you get the correct pipe cement. PVC cement doesn't work with ABS. They make a universal that should work with both.

Why are we in this basket...and where are we going
I have never seen pex used for drain lines. I don't think they make pex in1.5"?
pex is made in larger sizes typically used in europe for commercial applications. I don't think it is recommended for drain applications only supply side. Wahoo is right , use the black abs for drain applications and make sure to use the correct glue and also abs fittings to put everything together. Lowes or HD should have whatever you need.
