Re-hang bedroom door

I have a 2006 30' Safari Bunk. While replacing the mattress in the front bedroom with an inner spring model, we pressed the new mattress against the door while trying to get it into the bedroom and the back hanger jumped out of the hole in the top of the door.

I have tried, but I can't seem to get the hanger to latch into the hole. I can get it to line up and slip into the hole, but I can't get the clip to clip onto the hanger.

Has anybody done this that can offer any tips on how to do it? We leave Saturday for a week long camping trip so I need help fast!
