Questions from a new AS owner......

Well we just returned from picking up our 1968 26' Overlander. Pulled the AS almost 900 miles through NC, GA, AL, MS, AR, and MO without incident. Upon arriving home I came up with a few issues that I think need to be addressed.

1. The door and window gaskets / seals are shot. I have two or three leaky windows that need to be fixed ASAP. Can anyone recommend where to find the gaskets, material, vendors, etc...

2. Univolt - appears to be the original unit. Is there a quick test to see if this unit is operating properly?

3. Battery - any specific brand or model anyone can recommend?

4. Tires - same type of question, brands or models to use?

Thanks for the help.....

InlandRV.com will have most or all of what you need.

Do a search on Univolt using the search function, and one of the thousand or so posts on this will answer your questions on Univolts.

Group 24 or Group 27 deep cycle RV batteries are the most common replacements. I have always had good luck with Interstate products. Many swear by the new Gel type batteries, but they are pricey. Another good brand that comes to mind are Lifeline batteries.

Standard tire size was 7x15 bias ply, Load range C or D, replacement size is 225/75R15ST, as offered by Good Year, amongst others. ST stands for Special Trailer tire. Goodyear calls theirs "Marathons". Single axle must have Load range D, dual axle can use Load range C for the 60's Tradewind. I'd go with the D-load range, but make sure the rims can take the extra pressure.
If in doubt, post what you have on there now, and the forum will help you spend your money wisely.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Airsteam ownership.
I would suggest trying Colelaw salvage which is in Carthage, MO for your parts. You are close enough that you can even drive over and search thier yard. I have posted thier web address below.
