Prep to apply numbers

Just received my WBCCI packet with my vinyl numbers for our 2014 AS. What should I use to clean/prep the aluminum surface for application?

I found that going to Fastsign and having them make a continuous sheet with our numbers was much easier than trying to apply each number individually.

Before using the soapy water, I'd get some PrepSol (or similar brand prep solvent) and clean any wax, etc. off.

Like kswelsh, we had a quick sign company make a one-piece, peel-and-stick number set for us. Washed the aluminum with mineral spirits to make sure all the road oil was off, dried the area. Drew a light pencil line level with the nameplate and applied. They still look great after many storms and two hard winters.

On my first AS put the numbers on individually, PITA. Cleaned surface with soap and water. 2nd AS took the numbers to a sign company and they made a one piece pull and stick. Actually there was backing on both sides, so you pull off the backing on the stickem side and place on AS. Then pull the top side backing off. Much easier. On 2nd AS used glass cleaner as the dealer recommended it for final cleaning of the AS.
