Owner's Manual - DIY Dream Book

I just finished reading the Owner's Manual for my new to me '90 25' Excella. Wow! I like to take care of as many things myself as my modest skills allow - and this manual is a dream book for me.

I've toyed around with vintage Porsches for many years. At least in the old days Porsche liked to appeal to the technical side of buyers and included a lot of technical information in their Driver's (not Owner's) Manuals. But the manuals didn't really go very deep.

Unlike the Airstream Owner's Manual. I'm really impressed at the detailed information that it includes, even down to exploded diagrams of various components. They tell you how rebuild faucets for crying out loud! If the Porsche manuals were that detailed it would need to cover the rebuilding of carburetors.

Says a lot about the company - and the buyers.

Airstream has certainly come a long way with their manuals. The manual that came with my 1964 Bambi II was very generic and ends most paragraphs with the note "Not for the Bambi II".

But they still have a long way to go, as the Interstate owner's manual clearly shows.
