Outlet cover - afternoon project

I wanted to have a shinny cover on the outlet I was adding to to the outside of our Caravel. I purchased a weatherproof outlet cover from the local hardware store and disassembled it by depressing the lid spring using the cover to press down on one end and popping that end out. I stripped the paint off and sanded and buffed after disassembly . Reassembled and installed on trailer. Hope this helps someone else.

Very impressive, and a whole lot less expensive than a Marinco outlet. What a great idea.

A couple of years ago I found a single outlet cover after a long search. All the ones that I had found were plastic painted a dull silver. I finally gave up and bought a 'plastic' one and repainted it chrome. Well, it wasn't the shiny match that I wanted so I began to sand it to re-spray it. That 'plastic'....it felt like plastic, was in reality aluminum! I was able to buff mine to the quality that you did yours. I guess thngs aren't always as they seem....sometimes they are better!

Now that looks awesome! You deserve 3 cheers for helping Taymac stock prices to soar. I just hope the rest of us can get as nice a polish job on ours

Thanks King

I'm copying your idea. For the rest of you, here's a before picture, I haven't finished my cover yet, but I doubt that I can do better than the after picture we already have. Thanks again.
