During the selling process of our storage building ( aka Toy Box), someone who the real estate agent showed the building to obviously wanted in or to look in our 1979 Trade Wind International and BROKE the entry door handle/latch. The flipper handle cracked and now the only way in is use a pair of plyers. Airstream Inc has a fix, but we need to scab on a patch panel to use a newer door handle. That would look like crap on an otherwise pristine trailer, bummer!
Anyone have any leads????

Yes, how about a liability attorney to go after that real estate agent for not stopping those nosy lookie lews before they broke your door handle/door?
I'd be expecting the agent and or client to fork over some big bucks for the repair. The agent is, after all, responsible for damage while showing a property; that's why they have insurance.

Thanks for reminding me. The 1951 15 panel Flying Cloud is now included.
With six airstreams, our friends Fred and Betty think we are "ill" for having that many.

If you have the parts, do you think it would be possible for a machine shop to carve you a new handle out of billet alum. It won't be cheap but it's an idea. That or a salvage yard.

It would seem to me that Fred and Betty need some coaching. I suppose they collect stamps, or match books, or coins, or marbles or whatever. There isn't much excitement in having six of any of those things and I'll bet they would be hard pressed to show you anyone who felt it was. Yea, you need to sit them down and ask them what they have or do collect and how silly it would be for them to have had only six. Once you have them over THAT hurdle give them pictures of the other Airstreams you need to fill out your collection and send them out to help you fulfill your needs .
As for a realtor who would let someone into your property without either stopping damage being done or to let someone in without them being there to monitor their activities? I'd be having a discussion with the listing agent and ask them to start asking around who let that happen as they will know for sure which realtors have shown the property. A letter of complaint to the realty board would be in order. Otherwise who knows what will happen next?

We have replacement door handles for the 79 door locks. We have a local machine shop make them up out of stainless steel in batches. If you still need one send me an E mail and I will find out the cost. I don't think they are any less expensive than the new lock but the result is much nicer.

Report the incident to
1. Local Law enforcement
2. State Department of Regulation & Licensing
3. Board of realtors (they may try to talk you out of step 2)
4. Your Attorney
I used to sell real estate for a number of years. There is no excuse for that. The agent should have reported the incident immediately. Any member of the NBR has insurance, have it trucked to a dealer and repaired properly at their expense!
After you get things fixed run an add or talk with a reporter and mention the agent and company by name!
