One mans trash, another's treasures!

My DH and I were driving home this past weekend and we saw an Airstream that I had been previously hidden by a neighbor of ours. It was way back on his property but he moved it cause he wants to start scrapping the metal. This guy knows absolutely NOTHING about Airstreams or how much they are worth. We needed a side window and a door hinge and he told us $100 for both!! SOLD!! But then he ended up telling us to just take the whole door!!

The first two pics are of the 'trash', the last is of our 'treasure'!!!

Offer him 500 for the whole trailer. He will not get that much for scrap.

Sad to see it sitting there like that. I wonder what the history of that number is?

I agree with awchief, you seem like you can put it to better use...

The trailer appears to be a 1975 or 1976 31' Sovereign. #25804 was unassigned in 1975, but was assigned to William and Wilma Kimmons of Huntsville, Alabama from 1976 through 1994. I spot checked a couple of later directories and it does not appear that #25804 was ever reassigned, so this Airstream must have belonged to the Kimmons during at least part of their time in the club. Unfortunately, there are no listed caravans for the Kimmons, so we cannot say where this Airstream may have travelled.

EDIT: I do see (but cannot read) what appear to be Rally plaques on the lower edge of the window forward of the door, so this Airstream must have attended some rallies, possibly International Rallies.

Dang, I'd be glad to buy that awning in the third photo, if you can grab it....
