OEM Airstream parts

who gives the best price online or by phone for oem airstream parts in the country? also what is the current concensus on grey/black water totes. the thetford lx 18 looks to the best to me, but i've seen some negative thoughts. the cost is not the issue, just which works best.

Depends on what parts you want or need.

Also depends if they are a authorized Airstream dealer.

We carry over 3300 different Airstream parts in inventory.

Exactly. Many older units have parts that are no longer available. There are salvage possibilities but that may take a lot of constant watching (robandzoe would know that!). And thankfully folks like Inland and, to a lesser degree, Vintage Trailer Supply have taken the risk to remanufacture commonly needed parts.

I am a tightwad from way back. But this is no place to be cheap.

If you love Airstreams then show it by supporting Airstream. We do not all have it in our power to buy a brand new trailer but we can support the factory and dealers by buying parts. I would gladly pay extra to support the dealers who contribute so much to this forum.

Maybe they and the factory will still be in business next time we need them.

thetford thoughts???

frugal is good. a little discount is always healthy. i keep 8 cars running. if i always paid retail for parts, i would probably only have 6 cars. i do not think we have to worry about airstream being around. i see no diminishment in the universal appeal. unless further "bean counter" decisions are made like using OSB floors instead of marine plywood, maybe saving less than a $100 per trailer. these same things killed the american car industry. no thoughts about the best totes?????

Interesting. According to that tableau, there are NO AS dealers in Canada...

Yep, I can attest to that, I've been there. But Airstream's "check for dealers" page doesn't know about them. And Can-Am RV isn't the only dealer in Canada, either!

Well, guess I'm lucky to already have a trailer, because even if I put in my postal code, the best I get is Can-Am only. Without the postal code, search results=0

Thanks, all.

TOTES hummmm well I bought ours direct from Barker Mfg. in Kalamazoo ,Michigan. The people were knowledgeable and nice on the phone. I however think I over did just a tad. I got the biggest they make, 42 gallon 4 wheeler. Considering the height of the Airstream, the tote is a little tall in some cases. As long as you are on a concrete pad and the trailer is higher there is not problem. But its was only $8 bucks difference(no quote please) than the next smaller size.We have pulled it by hand full on grass was not a problem, gravel is bad.Asphalt roads in a park it is a brezze too pull by hand. It has a ring handle so it can be pulled with your TV ,golf cart or what ever.
We like ours and the price was rite.

I looked long and hard at them and while I was first drawn to the Thetfords, I saw enough negative content about them to eventually rule them out.

I picked up a 25 gallon Barker 4 wheel tank. As others have noted these puppies get really heavy when full, and dependent upon the surface the tank sits on, it may be next to impossible to move them when full.

Prices will vary and if you are diligent shopper you can find some pretty good deals out there in Internet land.
