Question Northern Colorado parts & service?

Hi all,

I recently purchased a 1968 Globe Trotter and am just checking around to locate airstream parts and service providers in Northern Colorado. No specific needs right now but I'm sure I will eventually need something.

WINDISH RV CENTER is listed on the Airstream website, anybody have any experience with them with regards to vintage models? Any other sources of parts and service for a vintage airstream within a reasonable drive of Denver and N. CO area?

Thanks!

I would suggest giving Luke, at Luke's Maintenance and Repairs in Fort Collins, a call. Last time I checked, he was actively renovating and maintaining Airstreams as an independent mechanic/craftsman. His number is 970-226-5001, and can be found with a google search also.
Windish is the other obvious choice for parts and service, if Luke is not able to help you.

Windish is not typically the first place I would go for a vintage trailer, but then, for the most part we are DIY'rs. There are so many little parts & pieces for "normal" maintenance that you can DIY too. Get familiar with the parts available from both Vintage Trailer Supply & Inland RV (both mailorder) as well as local RV places like Nolan RV & Camping World. Nothing on these trailers is too tough if you are at all handy, if you just need a confidence booster, go to either the RMVAC Rally or the Four Corners Unit's Restoration rally you will get some hands on experience that will give you convidence in areas you aren't.

For more involved projects you aren't comfortable doing yourself, give Luke a call - he'll help you out. We had him replace the axle on one of our trailers a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the reply's.

I am comfortable with a lot of the basic stuff as long as I can find the parts... but HOA restrictions on driveway maint and storage make it difficult to do some stuff that would require major disasembly. I'll write down Lukes # and keep it with the paper work.

The RMVAC rally looks like fun but I already have plans for that weekend. Maybe next year

I brought my Argosy down from Idaho to Fort Collins for Luke to do the axle. Excellent job, excellent man. He does other things than Axles but you would need to call him as to what he wants to take on.

Come to the vintage rally in Gunnison this year. Luke will be there, probably parking everyone and running the Donnareta machine.

I love the Gunnison/Crested Butte area. We try to make it there every year to do some hiking and mountain biking. Unfortunately I have other plans for the weekend, camping up near Willow Creek Pass north of Granby with a bunch of friends. Kind of an annual guys weekend. Maybe next year.

We second InsideOut's recommendation! And if you go to one of the rally's mentioned, you'll have the opportunity to hear one of their maintenance/ resto presentations.
