Noisy refrigerator

Just got our first airstream (23FB), We love it, except the noisy refrigerator. Drives my wife nuts. A friend who has an airstream suggested installing a 2nd fan, which would keep the fridge cooler so the motor doesn't run so often. Any thoughts.

If you have an RV refer, there is no motor. It is ammonia based and there are no moving parts. However there may be a cooling fan to help increase the efficiency of the refer. Perhaps it is the fan that your wife hears.
You may be able to gain access to to it thru an outside hatch.

The noise is probably from the fan. We added a switch to turn the fan off when we wanted.

I had exactly the same problem. The short term fix is to go outside and open the upper compartment behind the refrig. and simply pull one of the connections to the fan off. It's a bayonet connection and you can put it back after you get a good night's sleep.

The long term fix is to go back to your dealer and have him installer a switch. They installed ours in the wardrobe next to the microwave.

Good luck!

Yup, it's the fan you hear, not the frig... We replaced ours with a quieter one, but it's still annoying ... so we turn ours off at night when we go to bed...(ours came with a switch, but some don't)...
