No trailer brakes

Hello Streamers!!!
I have no trailer brakes on my 04 international, I found my plug on the tow V (2000 Navigator) was burned. I replaced it and still no brakes. I do have lights and signals. Mechanic tested power to brake control on dashboard and it had 13 volts to the box. I figured when the plug shorted, it shorted out the controller also. So I replaced that, STILL NO BRAKES. The new controller has a LED readout and it's showing that it's NOT connected.... Any ideas b-4 I pay the rent at camping world????

If you introduce voltage to the brake circuit (say with the breakaway switch) do the brake magnets swing a compass needle? It's possible that the short that burned the original 7-pin connector was in the brake wiring between the umbilical and the brakes (or perhaps in the umbilical itself, have you metered that for proper insulation and continuity?)

It's most likely an electrical troubleshooting exercise.

Sounds like you have an Open somewhere in the circuit.

First test for voltage at the female connector on the TV. If you have voltage there connect the umbilical cord and test for voltage at the trailer end of the umbilical cord, where it enters the trailer. If no voltage there the open is in the cord. If voltage there the line going back to the brakes is likely open.
