I was going to fix the same myself, but for liability reasons I am having it done by an AS dealer. The RV dealer in AK that expressed some interest once approved by AS would satisfy me as to liability for me.

As to AS customer service; I've called several times with questions, no issues. Always gotten a response or a call back, once by someone saying they were the lead Engineer on the topic I had a question about and it was 7:30 while he was on his way home.

I don't necessarily mind paying the local dealer for work performed. The flipside to buying a $70,000 rig should really mean that there is no reason to be nickel'd and dime'd for safety recalls.

I have found a shop that is willing to do the work and they are contacting Airstream to make the arrangements. I am having them perform the safety recalls even though I am sure I could easily do it myself for the purposes of making sure that down the road if I sell the trailer, I won't be responsible if there is a failure of the repaired part.

Hey Mark,

I totally understand. I still think that the propane tray should be bolted down with stainless bolts, locked nuts, and not metal screws. The lock idea is great also.
Regarding the liabilities, I am in a different position as my AS is going my son, when I depart. I am a bit older and not that healthy!
I am hoping it will stay in the family for a long time.

Cheers

Al
