Newbie question - Stove exhaust fan

Newbie here with a “did I mess up a lot or a little” question:

I forgot to unlatch the stove exhaust vent outside and I cooked dinner and breakfast before I remembered😳! I unlatched it and the fan seems fine. Is there anything else I should check? Does the fan turn itself off if it overheats?

You probably did no harm. It is just a fan that is trying to move air that has no place to move to. If this could instantly ruin a fan motor, then all of those fan-based inflators that blow up air mattresses and childrens' bouncy houses would be failing constantly.

That’s what I was thinking/hoping. As a new owner, I keep vacillating between delight and fear with our new baby😂

If you use the "custom" vent door retainer, the fan will run quieter and move more air. If you forget it's also slipstream removable and easily replaced. 👍
