new-refurbished-rebuilt heater/furnace for 1970 Tradewind

The furnace of my 1970 Tradewind has been condemned and the one chosen to replace it will not interface with existing heating duct system. They are proposing to install a unit which only blows hot air out of its face. If I can find it, I want one from a 1970 Tradewind that is actually working. GULP HELP!!**?

I have a 71 that had an NT22. I replaced it with a new NT35. I used the bottom part of the old furnace cover and adapted it to form a plentum so I could use the old ductwork. I had to raise the new furnace about an inch using a wooden frame so that the outside intake exhaust ports line up. There are some old threads with this adaption. Let me know if you can't find them and I will send some pics.

I would not recommend an old unit. You will have trouble getting parts or anyone to service it.

I believe Airstream issued a service bulletin on this explaining how to perform the adaptation. If you work with an Airstream dealer they should be able to pull it up. The NT35 is the best available replacement and, with the mods, does use the original ductwork.

Do you realy want to trust a 40 year old furnace? Nah. Get a new one.
