New Dometic Penguin II

When I install a Penguin II on my 1976 Airstream can I just use the Dometic drip pan and the cups and hose or do I need to buy a pan that adapts the A/C to the Airstream?

New Dometic Penguin II

We have a '76 Ambassador and the pan leaked inside all the time. I installed the drip cups as seen in Lewster's posts and have been very happy. An added benefit was a little less noise from the AC unit since the foam gaskets absorb some vibration. Be sure the rear foam support is 2 units high so the AC frame doesn't droop.

If your '76 still has the original a/c, you'll need to get a brace kit to retrofit the new a/c to your trailer.

ood mart 866-636-2267 appx 100.00 ea. has some left for penguin , way better than cups . I have 3 but saving for my customers. cups require that you use extra gasket and reinforce roof as a/c gasket is not supported well . look , you'll see hoops are forward and aft of hole , this is still true on 16s haven't worked on 17 yet .

I had installed the cups on my new Penquin last years. The cups worked well, the compressor didn't.Dometic replaced my 1 month-old unit with a new one that works so far.Wish I would have bought a Coleman.I didn't because of the stupid drain/no pan issue.

For what it's worth, I had my old can't-remember-the-name-of-it-now a/c unit replaced with a Coleman 15k last year and I couldn't be more pleased. Even in the south Texas 100+ degree days we've been having it keeps my 1982 34' Excella comfortable and will chase me out at night it gets so cold inside. I actually sleep under a wool blanket.

My past experiences in SOBs made me really skeptical when listening to the salesman but I have to admit, he really knew what he was talking about when he recommended the Coleman. I hear others talking about having to run two units and I just smile.
