new Dometic heat pump problem

Just installed a new 15,000 btu dometic heat pump on my 71 excella.
The fan blows fine , but the compressor is not starting up.I have a # 12 ga.
heavy duty drop cord run 120 feet to 120 volt outlet on my deck .
I have a 4000 watt generator that I could move right next to the trailor and
run a 25 foot drop cord from it to the trailer electric plug . Any advise on this ?
thanks

120 feet of extension cord, combined with a 15 or 20 amp circuit on your deck, might not do it. That 15000 btuh heat pump may need more to start it. Why not try the generator at least? If not, hook up and pull it somewhere that you can get a full 30 amp pluggin..like a campground.

I did not run any numbers but I would guess voltage drop is your issue.
