New Airstream Owners - Orientation Needed

Hello Everyone
My wife and I just purchased a 2002 Bambi
Which is our first airstream and first travel trailer.
We are interested in finding an intro to using our AS. We have found a class like this at camping world but wanted to ask the community for recommendations.
We are wanting to learn the in's and out's of setting up things the right way , general maintenance, etc

I appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks
Matt

Congratulations on your new AS! And welcome to the forum. It's great to have you with us!

I can't offer any classes but one thing that helped me a lot was the book, The Newbies Guide to Airstreaming. It is written by Rich Luhr. I bought it on Amazon.

Also I looked at a lot of YouTube videos.

Happy trails!

Congratulations.

I know your model is a different one, but even so I think you could learn a lot by watching the walk through videos that are done on the Colonial Airstream website. They are 20-30 minutes long. In particular the one on the 22 sport may have a lot of similarity to your unit.

Also watch as many other youtube videos about topics like setting up camp, hitching up, dumping tanks, electrical and battery, water tanks, water heaters, and the ones on long long honeymoon are very good on a lot of topics.

Also a number of good AS videos on YouTube, showing all kinds of functions, upgrades and repairs. One site is "Airstream Nerds".

Another possibility would be to attend a Forums Rally or a WBCCI (Wally Byam Caravan Club International) Rally. New owners are warmly welcomed at both functions in my experience. While you may not find another owner with your exact trailer at a Rally, most systems are similar among the various models -- and experienced owners are generally pleased to share their experiences with new owners. You may even find that there is a new owner's seminar offered at some of the larger state/regional rallies.

Enjoy exploring your new coach and the RVing experiences that it will bring to you and your family.

Kevin

Sign up for Alumalina Rally in October. It is right around the corner from you at Caesar's Head Mtn. In Cleveland SC. Expect over 200 Airstreams there. You'll learn more than you need.

Thank you for the great information and thread. My wife and I, we live just west of Boston, just bought a 2016 Sport 22 from Colonial. We take delivery on August 1st. While we cannot wait, we are certainly nervous about all there is to know about Airstream life and proper use. Any suggestions that anyone has found helpful would be much appreciated. I too will make sure that I get a copy of 'The Newbies Guide to Airstreaming' ASAP. Thanks again.

Here is the thread with a list I did during my first year. This has since evolved.

Videos

Congratulations! We're new (1 year the end of July) and I read a lot while shopping here on the forum. I also relied a lot on the videos that are available on the airstream.com site, and those produced by the Trailer Chix (google airstream trailer chix). Safe travels.

As a new AS owner I'll second the recommendation to check out the Newbies Guide and add that the companion book The (Nearly) Complete Guide to Aistream Maintenance has proven invaluable.

The Airstream page on YouTube has a lot of instructional videos - make sure you go through them and scroll through to some of the older ones. The newer ones are all Basecamp videos but the older ones are great, starring "The CleverChix."

I watched these many times before I got the hang of everything
