Needs some work

I'm Looking for a stove, water heater, pump and several other parts. I live in Richmond, VA. I have found things on eBay, but I need real cheap. This 40 year old Silver streak needs a lot of things. I'm posting a picture of it as it was when I was working on it. I've rebuilt the front and almost everything up to the bathroom. No doubt some people might think I'm crazy for taking on such a mess. I just couldn't let get scrapped. I'll post more later.

Silver Streak parts are a lot harder to find because there are a lot less around. Most difficult the anodized aluminum segments. I think most people would run away from this one. It's gonna take a lot of time and $. Probably more than you might think. There is also not the market for Silver Streaks there is for Airstreams. They were a good trailer though.

One thing I noticed from your first picture - how far up the door goes! Getting tired of the scabs on the top of my head from hitting it when I don't have my hat on to protect the old noggin going out of my AS!

It still needs lots of work. I could have picked an easier project for my first trailer. My wife is very exited about it. She loves to see what I can do with it.

"Crazy", h*** no. There's lots of Airstreams and Avions. Silver Streak and Streamline are harder to find than an honest politician! I'm impressed with anyone with the guts to take it on. When you're done you'll have folks that have never seen one. Looks older than 40 yrs though. I'd guess 1963 or before, give us more pics. If you intend to go 100% original inside that could be rough. But if you are looking for just time period correct there's lots of used stuff around reasonably priced. I have a free standing gas range from a '50s park model I'd give you. Keep posting progress, interesting change form the same old stream stuff.

We have a 1969 Silver Streak Rocket that was in good shape when we bought it a year ago. I find even my minor problems daunting!

I have seen 2 and they are far worse 1 in the woods in Jacksonville nc about 2 miles from the main gate burned with a pine growing in the middle of it and 1 just outside havelock nc 3 miles from the back gate of cherry point being used as a shed no axle and painted black. Good luck you have done wonders.

I couldn't believe the after pics. I would have never taken that project on as a first trailer. Congrats on some great work. How is that thing fitted out with black and gray tanks? I'm custom building all mine. I have a 64 Airstream Overlander, and I'm here in Richmond as well on the south side.

Keep up the good work! Looks AWESOME!!!! I'm taking on my first Airstream project as well. I just got a 1967' Overlander 26' that sat on a farm for 30 plus years with a busted back window. This is all new to me but I'm glad for this forum to help out newbies 8)

The way I see this project is as something like a big toy. My wife saw it listed on Craigslist and asked her wonderful father to buy it for us. I've always wanted an Airstream, but couldn't find one under $2000.
There's a lot more work left to do in the back that I'll get to before next summer. It's like a back yard guest house at the moment. It has cable, phone, Wi-Fi, HD radio, microwave, and an HDTV. When the project is done, there will be less money in it than a cheap used trailer. I don't want to put a fortune in it because it will never be worth what a restored airstream is. It's built nice and has incredible storage, but not the name recognition of Airstream.

Looks like you are having fun with that project, and the results are obvious.

As for parts, keep an eye on the Classifieds here: lots of folks tearing out interiors and doing a lot of refurb generates all kinds of parts.
