Need to shorten dinette table leg

The leg of my dinette table is about 1" too long. The table is at an angle. The problem worsened when I put a plate on the floor to protect it from the table leg. But the problem existed prior to the plate.

The only way I see this going down is sawing off 1" off that leg. The leg seems to be held by 4 screws to the table top, so removing the leg seems easy. I can't imagine this leg being made of a super strong alloy, so sawing off 1" seems doable.

Any other suggestions?

Are you sure you have the other end of the table connected to the wall properly?

Yup. The tabs are fully inserted as far as I can see.

Leveling table

Once you remove the 4 screws that hold the leg to the table top install the top on the wall hanger (and using a 4 foot level) bring the far edge of the table up to level the top and cut and attach a cross member to form a temporary T brace at that edge of the table top, then measure the height from the leg bracket area under the top to the floor. Make sure the measurement is square and level. Then cut a 2 X 4 to the correct height and place it in the position under the table top where the leg goes and check that it fits the right height to make the top level. When it is, then and only then, transfer that length measurement to the Airstream factory leg and cut it to the proper height. Ed

Sounds to me like someone has lowered the table, on the wall, prior to you buying it. Perhaps it just needs to be raised to the original holes??

By the way, instead of a plate to protect the floor from the leg, we used a precut round piece of Velcro (we had one in board, and also seemed more durable than felt.) We thought it would fall off and be only a temporary solution, but four years later we're still waiting for it to fall off...😊

I don't see any other holes. To be honest, I think it was a mistake. I am sure the table would be level if there was no flooring. I am guessing the table was installed, and level, before the vinyl floor was installed. I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like.

I figured chopping off 1" off the leg is going to be easier than raising the slots were the table connects to the wall.

If the leg is like mine it's simply hollow sheet metal, thin easy to cut. If you can cut a piece of wood to slide up into and screw inside the leg, you could get a screw adjustable chair caster that would protect the floor and allow fine tuning the height. Like these:

Someone on another post had a brass plate made for where the table leg meets the floor.
I use a piece of cardboard.
I am concerned about the floor being dented or scratched, but that hasn't happened.
I have the same fake wood roll vinyl flooring as the OP.
