There are lots of people who THINK they know what theyre doing when it comes to restoring Airstreams. There are a few incompetent crooks out there two, but if you don't have the desire, mechanical skills, or streangth to do it, search long and hard for someone with tons of references and some real history.

Colonial Airstream has a great rep for newer units, but I honestly don't know if they take on much vintage work. The mothership is good, but a heck of a drive for you.

Wish I knew of others in your area. I'm sure you'll get lots of feedback.
(You could hop a plane and go to the 5th annual restorer rally - learn how to do it yourself).

hmm,

closest to 'Raynham, MA' is likely to be Frank Y. in Baltimore, or Colin H. in Plattsburgh, NY. both are highly recommended.

ditto Paula's suggestion on the 5th Annual 4CU Vintage Restoration Rally in Albuquerque, NM. see here -> 2012 4CU Vintage Restoration Rally

iirc, "Reinergirl" lives here in the Northeast and is going. we did the 2nd and 4th VRRs; well worth the time & travel!

pix here 2009 and here 2011

best,

Are you looking for someone to come to your place to help you do it (that's how the question is worded) or do you want to tow it to a shop?

Can't help with the former, but for the latter there are two East Coast shops I'd use for extensive vintage work. One is Colin Hyde Trailer Restorations in Plattsburgh. I haven't used him but he has a very good reputation and knows his stuff.

Personally I have extensively used Franks Trailer Works in Baltimore for work on my Argosy and have been very happy with the quality of work and the vendor-client relationship. I highly recommend him.

I also use a good shop, Classic RV and Restorations, just over the CT/NY border. He works magic with new trailers (my 2007 is there now) and works on vintage too. But the difference in labor rates might make a tow to Baltimore well worth it for a major vintage job.

Hope this helps.
Tom

Much depends on how much floor and where. I learned alot on these forums, attended the last two Resto Rallys and did the work myself on the rear of our Safari. You have some options, and great suggestions here. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Your Airstream, great year, great rig!

Thanks for all of your replies. I was hoping to find someone near by to aid in the floor replacement. I've been doing the work myself and have read endlessly, thought it be prudent to find someone in the know and in the hood to assist myself and two others getting this done-right-. There's a new dealer of airstreams in Stoughton, I'll take a ride by and see if they know someone who is familiar with vintage.

I'm hoping this unit becomes road worthy one day, but it may be destine as a pool side cabana!
