Need some quick help with toilet flange

Hey everybody. Working on pulling up the floor in the bathroom and having some problems with the toilet flange that secures the toilet to the floor. All the screws are loose but it is not budging. This is what it looks like:



Is it possible the PO somehow glued the black inner part to the top of the black water tank? Is that normal procedure? I would have thought it's just a slip fit just like what you would find in a house.

If it is glued in, what are my options? I dont want to replace the black tank, but this thing has to come up so I can replace the subfloor. Any quick help would be appreciated.

It's threaded!!! Yes, a threaded fitting in the top of the black tank.

You have to unscrew the flange. This may also be a problem. There is a tool the slips down into the very slight slots in the black plastic. I made one from a piece of 1/4" hard plastic.

That was it, flange is out. Follow up question:

The water heater, what holds it in. I've got all the bolts on the outside flange removed. Are there any hidden bolts holding it down to the floor? It still has the cardboard cover and I don't want to disturb that if possible.

You're done. The water heater is held in place by the face being riveted to the shell. Tug gently. Zep
