I haven't got rivets yet. Joyous will be the day, I need rivets are anything to start putting things back together instead of all this taking apart. It is coming. I am almost to the end of taking apart. Grand kids! What a wonderful thing! Twins!? My sister had twins and it was my parent's 5&6th grandchildren. The good things in life.

Zep had a fixture for prebending the side wraps with a pipe similar to what I did but a lot more effective and classy. Where are you Zep?

Ok I found the thread by Zep.

Ok, a little more work done tonight. More walls came down and floor came up. My favorite tool so far? My crow bar! It gives the leverage I don't have. We took out rear floor. Elevator bolts came out fairly easily with a #1 Phillips. My DH did all the work with the saw. He won't let me use that. I also got a photo of me hot and tired standing on the ground while inside my trailer. Tim Shepard in his book Restoring A Dream says it is a required restoration photo. I think the welder can come soon to do work on the back end. I didn't get to tanks and other things. Mama is slow. There is an end in sight? Right? The whole point is to camp in this thing someday! Questions for this evening....In picture 2, what is the best way to get the glue and stuck insulation off?... In last pics of refrigerator vent, what can I replace it with? Too many cracks at rivet holes to put back, this old plastic gets really dry and brittle....how can I better seal the top vent, too much water and debris coming in through that hole! Thanks for all input and advice on photos!

Thanks for posting these. I have actually read Zeb's restoration. I am subscribed to that thread. I will reread it. It's just hard keeping everything straight, where I read what and who said what. In the end when I actually work, I probably take a bit of it all and what works. Thanks for it all Perry!

Perry they taste so good with honey and berries! I have never had a problem with child proofing cuz they can't do rivets yet! Lol screws and bolts that rust and strip make me much more frustrated than popping a few spinners or drill bits that are too small!

You can buy one from inland (expensive) or you can attempt a Fiberglas repair which may work. I am planning to make a replacement for ours. You can get the remaining Fiberglas and glue off with tape and solvent but as for the glue I say why it's thin and out of site and I am glueing the foam spacers for the prodex on so not going to frustrate my self with that when there are so many better things to do that with! I removed the ac and found a cross threaded mounting bolt that did the trick rather well. Can't leave a hole like that in the floor have 4 dogs and at least one of them would be in the as and there are too many rivet shavings and I do not want to be digging out metal shavings from paws! Made an impression yesterday pulling the ac (forehead) I forgot to look up!

Do you have pics of your work? You mentioned a blog/website in one post, I think. I would like to see it. Is camping on hold until you finish? We don't have another camper, so we have to wait until this one is done. :-(

I think I will have to order from Inland. I have to know my limits. Anything I can order and not have to my self, helps me a lot, because I am doing sooo much myself. I have plan on making my own curtains. I tried mineral spirits, it didn't do much. I wonder if goo gone would be better?

Alright girl you got me confused! Goo gone on what? And I am (not done yet) making a new Fiberglas fridge vent narrow at the bottom and flared to fit vent at the top. And christy start a thread and help will come and yes please break out the camera. Front window may be available at airstreamsupply.com manual a little tricky go to the top of the page select forum then trailer then 60s tradewind. Manuals are available but they cost and if you are renovating you 60 model and you will the manual may just be a nice read but you will change so much that will limit the info you get.
I promise I will post some pictures on Sunday.

Haha! I was talking about getting he glue and pink insulation stuff off with go gone. I bought something similar called goof off professional strength. I am going to try that just as soon as it cools down a bit here. I also went and got more screening to finish resecreening. I can only do the heavy stuff so much and then i have to mix in light stuff like screening and cleaning. I also have to contend wi gnats this time of the year. I am counting on pics Sunday.

Don't really understand the compelling need to remove the tar like glue but okay just make sure it is aluminum safe! Some solvents react to aluminum and bring the dreaded corrosion! I am leaving it on mine and will be adding adhesive to hold the 1 inch foam spacer for the prodex. Foam only under using nails or screws to hold that going more towards the screws. Google solvents safe for aircraft aluminum. Just a thought.
