Well she's exposed and pretty clean

Time to price out some new aluminum skins for the inside, anybody have experience with the interior and what grade/gauge to go for?

Awesome score

Forgot my dad manages an aircraft plant and can get the 2024 alloy sheet for cheap.

Does anybody know the gauge of the interior skin?

Bumping this to show some progress... Almost ready for polish

Getting very close for polish, then it's just install the appliances

1. Still have to finish framing in the back cutout where the diner stools and counter top is

2. Finish stripping remaining roofing compound the stupid po put everywhere on here.

3. Lay down laminate counter top.

Install appliances!!

Huge job so far but will be done in approx 2 months

Not for everybody

But a full shell off resto with no shortcuts makes sure it will live for a long time

If your a purist you hate it I get it, but if your into custom stuff and fabbing then projects like these are insanely fun to do.

Hey, looking good...what kind of fare will be offered at your diner? I have a '55 Flying Cloud that I made into a coffee bar. I left the exterior original...one would not know it ( being a coffee bar) until the signage is put up...in keeping the vintage "originality" intact. I used the space from the large front side window as my serving window. So...when I,m tired of doing coffee, I can make it a coach again when I want to ramble.
Your doing a good job, it's going to be very cool. Good luck with your project!

It will be the same as my other vintage food trailers, we usually open at 7 for breakfast then switch the menu at 11...

All comfort foods.... Lobster max n cheese, smoked brisket tacos, wicked stuffed burgers, fries, sandwiches etc.

See I thought about keeping the exterior original but I wanted this thing to POP, and I enjoy building crazy one off projects, so I went for it!!

Hey if you stumble across another cheap early 60's 'trotter in Western Canada let me know. I'd happily chop a non vintage down to size for a trade. (Only half kidding as I really want a shorty too and I'd probably do it).
