We used a poision in the house that was to make the rodents thirsty and force them out to get water. We also heard them running through the walls. Unfortunately it preferred the warmth of the ceiling over our bathroom light strip and there it did in fact die. Every lit bathroom trip spread a potpourri stench that was horrible for months before it finally disappated. It was just too difficult if not impossible to find and reach the remains.
I would much rather coax them to a trap, be it a humane halfway house or its final destination express. We also found a dead nest in my bag of yarn and a skeleton in my boot. (I will never
reach in my boots for socks again---EVER!
